Shenshuo rail line, which links coal-rich Shenmu in Shaanxi province and Shuozhou in neighboring Shanxi province, hauled 255.6 million tonnes of coal from western production areas to eastern consumption areas in 2014, up 3.5% year on year, said operator Shenhua Group.
This was the third consecutive year for Shenshuo line's coal transport to stay above 200 million tonnes.
The rail line, part of China's second largest coal dedicated railway Shenshuohuang line ending at Huanghua port, which is exclusively owned by Shenhua Group.
The line's transport efficiency has been greatly enhanced since 10,000-tonne heavy-haul trains were introduced since April 2013.
Commissioned on Jul 1, 1996, Shenshuo line mainly transports coal from Shenfu-Dongsheng Coalfield, China's largest coalfield spreading from northwestern Shaanxi to southern Inner Mongolia, to consumption areas in eastern China.
