Turkey imported 3.6 million tonnes of coal in October, jumping 81.88% or 1.98 million tonnes from the preceding year but down 9.71% from a month earlier, the country's trading statistics showed.
Import amount in October surged 132.63% year on year but dropped 21.38% month on month to $756 million.
Bituminous coal imports stood at 3.08 million tonnes in October, up 86.56% year on year but down 6.27% on the month. The imports amounted to $620 million, jumping 159.6% year on year but down 15.07% from the preceding month.
Coking coal imports were 457,500 tonnes, surging 69.99% year on year but slumping 29.17% month on month.
Anthracite imports rose 8.9% on the year and 11.85% on the month to 67,300 tonnes. Coke imports stood at 83,600 tonnes, rising 25.88% year on year and 40.45% on the month.
During January-October, Turkey's coal imports reached 29.59 million tonnes, contracting 4.16% from the year-ago level. The accumulative import amount was up 124.63% to $6.78 billion.
