Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region in Northwest China produced 327.33 million tonnes of raw coal during January-October, up 29.6% from the same period of last year, showed the latest data from local statistical bureau.
As of the end of October, CHN Xinjiang Energy Co., Ltd., the largest coal production and sales enterprise in the region, produced 63.12 million tonnes of coal, a year-on-year increase of 16.47 million tonnes; its coal sales were 64.61 million tonnes, up 16.76 million tonnes. Both coal production and sales exceeded the whole-year levels in 2021 two months ahead of schedule.
Hami city is the main coal producing area in Xinjiang. In the first 10 months, the city produced 99.7 million tonnes of coal, a year-on-year increase of 54.9%. Since November, the average daily coal output in Hami has reached 390,000 tonnes. By November 1, Hami's coal output exceeded 100 million tonnes for the first time in history.
Statistics showed that in 2021, Hami's new coal capacity increase reached 23 million tonnes per annum, and this year another 17 Mtpa has been included in the capacity increment proposals.
During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Xinjiang will comprehensively accelerate the construction of a large-scale national coal supply guarantee base and enhance outward coal delivery and electricity transmission to make important contributions in ensuring national energy security.
