Northwestern China's Ningxia autonomous region produced 62.82 million tonnes of coal from January to August, up 10.8% year on year, with the growth down 1.1 percentage points from the first seven months, local economic planner said.
Production of general bituminous coal reached 58.74 million tonnes, up 11% year on year; coking coal output rose 15.6% on the year to 3.4 million tonnes; anthracite output fell 21.3% to 679,600 tonnes.
In January-August, Ningxia's raw coal sales reached 55.46 million tonnes, up 7.7% year on year. As of end-August, stockpiles at coal mines across the region were at 2.15 million tonnes and enough for 9 days of turnover.
Ningxia's electricity production reached 104.75 TWh during January to August, up 4.6% year on year. Coal-based power generation reached 113.08 TWh, up 4.2% year on year. Renewable generation (hydro, wind and solar) reached 34.86 TWh, a 6% rise.
