Northeastern China's Heilongjiang province had stocked 6.04 million tonnes of coal as of September 14, completing 44.8% of the planned volume during the winter heating season, according to local media report.
Major heating companies in the province are expected to consume 13.51 million tonnes of coal for winter heating period, according Harbin Daily.
Heilongjiang province has actively responded to the situation of tight coal supply this year, and has started the winter coal storage in summer for heating ahead of schedule.
The province requested major power plants to store coal for more than 20 days' worth of usage before the heating period, small and medium-sized thermal power plants should store coal for more than 70 days, and key heating enterprises should store coal for more than 90 days of usage.
