China State Railway Group delivered a total 410 million tonnes of power coal from June 20, when the summer supply guarantee campaign started, to September 20, surging 32.1% compared with the preceding year, according to China News.
By September 20, 363 power plants directly supplied by railway across the country had stored 63.33 million tonnes of power coal, a year-on-year rise of 104.6%, and the volume could cover 26.8 days' worth of usage, 11.9 days longer than the year-ago period.
In response to the multi-point spread of the domestic epidemic, the continuous high temperature and dry weather in some areas, China State Railway Group efficiently managed logistics and vigorously carried out special actions to ensure the power coal supply while carrying out measures to effectively reduce the risks of the spread of the virus, the report said.
Daily coal loading of Haoji line under the group reached 2,007 wagons, up 38.8% on the year. Other key energy lines, including Daqin, Wari, Houyue and Shitai, registered a daily load of nearly 26,000 wagons, rising 13% from the year-ago level.
Coal delivery demand in China Railway Shenyang bureau is expected to expand in mid-September as the temperature in northeastern China fell fast, driving up the demand for winter coal restocking, while the coal supply from eastern Inner Mongolia weakened due to capacity elimination move.
