China's coking coal imports surged 109.73% year on year but fell 3.28% month on month to 7.49 million tonnes in December, customs data showed on January 24.
The import value came in at $1.97 billion in December, jumping 491.53% year on year but decling 5.79% from November. This translated to average import price at $262.71/t, rising $169.56/t from the preceding year but falling $7/t month on month, showed data from the General Administration of Customs.
China imported 54.7 million tonnes of coking coal in 2021, decreasing 24.62% year on year, with the imports value also up 30.69% to $11.02 billion.
