India imported 4.9 million tonnes coking coal in November, up 14% on the year and 21% on the month, showed data from mjunction.
The country imported the most coking coal from Australia, at 4.35 million tonnes, jumping 46% year on year, a share of 89% of the total. Imports from the U.S. slumped 54% from the year prior to 160,000 tonnes, and that from Canada dived 46% to 170,000 tonnes.
India imported a total of 51.31 million tonnes of coking coal during January-November, rising 28% on the year.
Imports of PCI coal decreased 8% year on year and 21% month on month to 1.01 million tonnes, sending the total imports during the first 11 months to 12.7 million tonnes, up 14% on the year.
The country's coke imports stumbled 65% from a year ago and 21% month on month to 140,000 tonnes.
