Shuozhou city of coal-rich Shanxi province asked power utilities to further build up power coal stocks, enough to cover above 20 days' usage, according to a notice issued by local energy bureau.
The notice instructed power generators, especially those generating both electricity and heat together, to pile stocks above 20 days by December 1. But the deadline can be moderately extended for companies having difficulties in shipment.
By December 7, all power generators in Shuozhou shall reach the standard.
On November 25, China's National Development and Reform Commission expected coal inventories at power plants would exceed the scale in the same period last year, reaching the highest level in history, laying a solid foundation for energy supply this winter and next spring.
