Coal consumption of major power plants of Hunan province totaled 2.86 million tonnes in October, jumping 120.5% from the year prior, said the local energy bureau.
By November 15, coal stocks at major power plants came in at 3.05 million tonnes, enough for more than 18 days of consumption.
Coal consumption of major power plants amounted to 27.81 million tonnes in January-October, up 49.2% year on year.
The province's power consumption totaled 17.45 TWh in October, increasing 24% from the year before, sending the January-October consumption up to 178.59 TWh, up 14.5% year on year, a share of 92.6% of 2020's total.
Hunan's total power usage in the year of 2021 is expected to surpass 210 TWh.
As of the end-October, its total hydropower generation decreased 9.4% on the year to 47.19 TWh; thermal power output grew 28.1% year on year to 83.1 TWh; power generated by wind and solar energy respectively reached 12.56 TWh and 3.2 TWh.
Renewables energy generation rose 43.7% year on year in January-October, playing an even importer role in power mix.
