Germany imported 2.45 million tonnes of hard coal in August, an increase of 700,600 tonnes or 40.12% year on year, but falling 2.43% or 61,000 tonnes from July, showed preliminary data from the Federal Statistical Office of Germany.
The imports amounted to €315 million ($366.3 million) in August, growing 113.77% year on year and 12.47% month on month. The average import price was calculated to be €128.64/t, up 52.57% on the year and 15.27% from a month ago.
In the first eight months of 2021, Germany imported 20.48 million tonnes of hard coal, an increase of 30% year on year. The imports were worth €1.9 billion, rising 37.22% on the year.
