South Korea imported 23,800 tonnes of coke in September 2021, falling 6.3% year on year and 21.71% month on month, customs data showed.
China remained the major coke supplier to South Korea. The country bought 22,000 tonnes of coke from China in September, decreasing 0.45% year on year and 24.4% month on month. The volume accounted for 92.4% of the total imports, narrowing 3.3 percentage points from a month ago.
South Korea spent $9.6 million in September for coke imports, surging 63.99% year on year and falling 11.96% month on month. The import price therefore averaged $403.15/t, up 75.01% year on year and 12.45% month on month.
In January-September, South Korea's coke imports totaled 244,300 tonnes, rising 5.44% from a year ago. Import value was $87.89 million, 51.36% higher than the year-ago level.
