China imported 10.72 million tonnes of steel products during January-September, falling 28.9% compared with the same period a year ago, according to the data released by the General Administration of Customs on October 13.
Total import amount came in at $13.54 billion during January-September, up 10.5% on the year. The average import price was calculated at $1,263.6/t during the same period, up $55.4/t year on year.
In September, China imported 1.26 million tonnes of steel products, slumping 56.5% year on year but rising 18.2% month on month. The total imports were worth $1.73 billion, down 13.1% year on year but up 12.8% on the month. The average import price was calculated at $1,375.6/t last month, up $99.6% on the year but down 4.5% on the month, data showed.
