China imported 970,000 tonnes of anthracite in August, up 79.6% from a year ago and 22.78% from the preceding month, customs data showed.
The import value was registered at $133.09 million last month, surging 237.3% year on year and rising 23.31% month on month. This translated to an average import price at $137.21/t, increasing $64.15/t from the preceding year and $0.59/t month on month, showed data from the General Administration of Customs on September 22.
China's imports of anthracite totaled 6.09 million tonnes in January-August, up 27.4% year on year, with the import value at $733.83 million, surging 74.9% from a year ago.
