China's coking coal imports climbed 24.14% from the preceding month to 4.68 million tonnes in August, but the volume was still 34.7% lower compared with the same month in 2020, customs data showed on September 22.
The import value came in at $947.07 million in August, rising 26.3% year on year and 41.82% from July. This translated to average import price at $202.37/t, rising $97.77/t from the preceding year and $25.23/t month on month, showed data from the General Administration of Customs.
China imported 30.74 million tonnes of coking coal in the first eight months of the year, slumping 41.6% year on year, with the imports value also down 28.8% to $4.71 billion.
