China Southern Power Grid planned to add 100 GW of renewable power by 2025 and 150 GW by 2035, lifting the shares to 60% in its energy mix by 2025 and to 70% by 2035, it said in a guidance on September 14.
The plan was part of the company's effort to build a greener power network, so as to make further contribution to China's climate target of carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060 under the Paris Climate Agreement.
The company said will push forward the digitalization and intellectualization of the grid infrastructure, and accelerate the application of low-carbon technology. Efforts would also be made to tap the potentials of energy conservation and carbon reduction of the grid network. Low-carbon means of life and working are to be encouraged.
The guidance encouraged to foster new low-carbon technology and industry, and speed up the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements of low-carbon technology and industry and more green financial products should be brought out and be integrated into the "Belt and Road initiative" actively.
It also called to improve the flexibility of the grid network and build a platform for efficient utilization of clean energy.
