The accumulative electricity supplied by Inner Mongolia Power Group to Mongolia's Oyu Tolgoi mine, one of the world's largest known copper and gold deposits, had exceeded 10 TWh as of September 5, according to the power company.
This is the first time that the power supplies from Inner Mongolia Power Group to a single Mongolian user has exceeded 10 TWh.
The cross-border power supply project has achieved safe and stable operation for nine consecutive years, and the power transmission between the two sides has grown steadily, according to the company.
In 2011, Inner Mongolia Power Group set up a fully-owned subsidiary - Inner Mongolia Guohe Electric Power Co., Ltd - to promote power cooperation between Inner Mongolia and Mongolia, expand cross-border supply business to neighboring countries, and also to meet the power demand from the OT mine.
