Power consumption of China's four energy-guzzling industries increased moderatly on a year-on-year basis in August 2021, according to the National Energy Administration.
In August, the chemical material industry consumed 42.7 TWh of electricity, a 0.5% rise year on year; building materials industry 37.8TWh, a year-on-year increment of 0.4%; non-ferrous smelting industry 56.6 TWh, up 3.5% year on year; and ferrous smelting industry 55.3 TWh, rising 1.1% from the previous year.
Over the January to August period, power usage of chemical material industry rose 9.9% from the year prior to 333.8 TWh, and the growth picked up 11.2 percentage points compared with a year ago. Building materials industry utilized 272.1 TWh, up 14.5% year on year with the growth rising 14.9 percentage points from a year earlier.
Non-ferrous smelting industry consumed 444.6 TWh, up 8.2% year on year, and the growth climbed 5.4 percentage points from the year-ago level. The ferrous smelting industry used 430.2 TWh, up 12.6% year on year, and the growth rose 11.3 percentage points from a year ago.
