China produced 730 million tonnes of crude steel during January-August, up 5.3% year on year, showed data from the National Bureau of Statistics on September 15.
In August, crude steel output came in at 83.24 million tonnes, falling 4.1% month on month and down 13.2% from the preceding year. Daily production slid 4.1% from the preceding month to 2.69 million tonnes.
Pig iron production stood at 610 million tonnes during January-August, up 0.6% year on year.
In August, China's pig iron output declined 11.1% on the year and fell 1.8% on the month to 71.53 million tonnes, with daily production down 1.8% month on month to 2.31 million tonnes.
China produced 920 million tonnes of steel products during the first eight months, up 7.3% on the year.
Steel products output stood at 110 million tonnes in August, a year-on-year decrease of 10.1% and a monthly fall of 2.0%, with daily output at 3.51 million tonnes, down 2.0% compared with July, the NBS data showed.
