Crude steel production of the U.S. was estimated at 1.88 million short tons (1.70 million tonnes) in the first week of September ended on September 11, rising 22.4% year on year and 0.9% from a week ago, showed the latest data from American Iron and Steel Institute.
Capacity utilization rate of the U.S.'s steel mills was 85.3% during the week, higher than 68.6% in the same period last year but lower than 84.5% in the week before.
In the year to September 11, the adjusted crude steel production in the U.S. totaled 65.79 million short tons, up 20.1% year on year; the capacity utilization rate of steel mills was 80.8%, higher than 66.8% in the same period last year.
