China's coal mining and washing industry raked in a total profit of 161.44 billion yuan ($24.84 billion) during January-May, surging 109.4% from the year prior, showed data from the National Bureau of Statistics on June 27.
Operating revenue from main business of coal mining and washing enterprises came in at 978.57 billion yuan, rising 28.8% on the year, data showed.
Costs of the industry gained 18.2% year on year to 646.28 billion yuan during the first five months.
For the whole mining industry, total profit reached 300.87 billion yuan over January-May, soaring 135.5% from the preceding year. Revenue from main business in mining industry logged a year-on-year increase of 28.4% to 1.87 trillion yuan, while cost reached 1.27 trillion yuan during the same period, up 17.1% on the year.
