Gladstone's coal exports picked up in March after falling for three consecutive months, while its coal exports to China remained zero, data from Gladstone Ports Corporation showed.
Gladstone exported 5.82 million tonnes of coal in March, up 0.41% year on year and 8.36% month on month. But its exports to China kept null for the fifth month since last November, compared with 989,900 tonnes from the corresponding month last year, data showed.
The company's coal exports to Japan in March stood at 1.86 million tonnes, up 13.17% year on year and 47.65% month on month；exports to India were 1.75 million tonnes, up 27.97% year on year and 6.46% month on month.
It exported 1.21 million tonnes coal to South Korea, up 69.09% from the year before but decreasing 18.92% from the month before;Taiwan received 429,400 tonnes, soaring 211.13% year on year and 178.11% month on month.
About 70% of company's coal exports are metallurgical coal, and 30% are thermal coal. The company's coal exports totaled 73.15 million tonnes in 2020, marginally increasing 0.83% year on year, of which 11.37 million tonnes were exported to China, increasing 4.09% year on year.
