India's coal imports stood at 21.26 million tonnes in January 2021, almost unchanged from 21.27 million tonnes in January 2020, but down 12.66% from 24.34 million tonnes in December 2020, showed data from Iman Resources on February 24.
Thermal coal intakes fell 4.94% on the year and 11.7% on the month to 14.24 million tonnes in January, data showed.
India imported 5.31 million tonnes of coking coal in the month, surging 35.3% from 3.93 million tonnes a year ago but falling 4.65% from 5.57 million toones in December 2020.
The PCI imports increased 20.14% year on year but fell 22.9% month on month to1.26 million tonnes in January.
The country's industrial Purchasing Manager Index (PMI) rose 1.3 percentage points from December 2020 to 57.7 in January.
