Two on-site inspection workers were killed after an explosion of pipeline from an outdoor methanol synthesis unit at a coking plant in Tangshan of northern China's Hebei province on February 23, local media reported.
The coking plant is located in Hetian country of Tangshan, and is owned by Guyu Coal and Coking Co., Ltd under Hebei Tianzhu Group. Total coke production capacity of the coking plant was registered at 900,000 tonnes per annum.
The coke firm's business scope includes coke, thiamine, crude benzene, coal tar, methanol, concentrated sulfuric acid, and liquid nitrogen.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
