Germany imported 2.82 million tonnes of hard coal in December, falling 0.99% year on year but rising 19.1% month on month, showed preliminary data from the Federal Statistical Office of Germany.
The December import was the highest level in the year 2020, data showed.
In December, Germany imported 1.5 million tonnes of hard coal from Russia, rising 22.39% from the previous month. Hard coal imports from Australia reached 375,000 tonnes, a decrease of 0.55% from a month ago.
Germany imported 579,200 tonnes of hard coal from the United States in December, surging 82.25% from a month ago.
Germany's December hard coal imports were worth 209 million euros (1.64 billion yuan), down 16.11% year on year but up 19.94% month on month. The coal price was calculated to average €74.07/t, sliding 15.28% year on year but up 0.71% month on month.
In 2020, Germany imported 25.55 million tonnes of hard coal, reducing 27.32% from 2019, with import value amounting to 2.14 billion euros, slumping 43.05% from a year ago.
