Inner Mongolia produced 14 million tonnes of coal during February 11-17, the official Lunar New Year holiday for 2021, China National Radio reported February 22, citing local energy bureau.
Coal sales totaled 13.4 million tonnes, including 2.8 million tonnes sold to three northeastern provinces.
The number of operating coal mines was registered at 200 during the seven days, 140 more than the same lunar period a year ago. Daily coal production also advanced 700,000 tonnes year on year.
Coal inventories used for power generation in the region exceeded 9 million tonnes, 19 days' worth of usage. Each of the 76 key local power plants has at least eight days' worth of coal in stock, according to China National Radio.
The local energy bureau expected coal production in the region to recover to normal level by the end of February.
