Commercial coal output of China Shenhua Energy Co., Ltd., a listed arm of China Energy Investment Corp, grew 16.2% from a year ago to 28 million tonnes in January, the company said in a report on February 22.
The output was 11.1% higher compared with the preceding month, the company said.
The company's coal production totaled 291.60 million tonnes in 2020, with a year-on-year growth of 3.1%.
Coal sales climbed 25.5% from a year ago to 34 million tonnes in January, yet it came 27.5% lower compared with December.
The accumulative coal sales were down 0.2% year on year to 446.40 million tonnes last year.
In January, Shenhua had 18.8 million tonnes coal handled at Huanghua port (16% YoY, 12.6% MoM), and 3.8 million tonnes shipped from Shenhua Tianjin coal dock (5.6% YoY, -5% MoM).
Coal handling at Huanghua port and Tianjin port stood at 203.80 million tonnes (2.1% YoY) and 45.40 million tonnes (1.6% YoY), respectively, last year.
The firm's power generation rose 24.7% year on year to 15.14 TWh in January. Total power generation was 136.33 TWh in 2020.
Power sales soared 25.3% from the year-ago level to 14.25 TWh last month. In 2020, its power sales totaled 127.65 TWh, the company said.
