Electricity load and consumption of China Southern Power Grid both reached record highs during this Spring Festival holiday (February 11-17), the company reported.
The maximum power load jumped 12.74% over the same period of last year to 116 GW, and the total electricity consumption increased 14.6%, it said.
Power output and receipt of the grid reached 14.56 TWh, growing 13.01% compared with the previous Spring Festival, and west-to-east power transmission amounted to 1.52 TWh, surging 25.13%.
The secondary industries, mainly the industrial sector, contributed a great majority of 98.41% to the growth in electricity consumption during this Spring Festival, with its electricity consumption rising 33.57%.
The growth was 15.61% in the tertiary industries, mainly service sector, and 21.39% in the primary industries, mainly the agricultural sector.
Due to last year's low base as a result of the epidemic and this year's policy of encouraging people celebrating the festival where they work, Guangdong's electricity consumption grew rapidly. Especially the manufacturing industry saw electricity consumption surge 55.71%, with the high-tech and equipment manufacturing industry surged 66.55%.
Electricity consumption of Guangxi's high-tech and equipment manufacturing industry also increased significantly by 83.71%. Electricity consumption of Yunnan's manufacturing industry picked up 38.92%.
Electricity consumption in various industries in Hainan achieved positive growths over the same period of last year, reaching 40.26% for wholesale and retail industry and 35.79% for leasing and business services industry.
