Power consumption of Guangdong province climbed up 3.44% year on year to 692.61 TWh in 2020, state media reported, citing local branch of China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd.
The primary industries – mainly the agriculture sector – saw a strong year-on-year rise of 7.62% in power consumption last year, 4.85 percentage points faster than the year-ago level, according to the Guangdong branch of China Southern Power Grid.
The secondary industries posted a 2.04% year-on-year growth in power consumption, with the industrial sector and the construction sector registering growth of 1.73% and 12.51%, respectively.
Electricity consumption of the industries recorded a highest year-on-year growth in the year of 11.38. The overwhelming manufacturing sector's power usage increased 3.27% year on year in December last year. It realized double digit rises in November and December after positive growth since May.
Power usage of the tertiary industries climbed 2.66% year on year, with information transmission, software and IT sectors all growing almost 20% year on year.
Residential power consumption increased by 9.32% year on year.
