Shanxi province, China's major coal production base, witnessed new energy installed capacity exceed 30% of total power capacity by the end of 2020.
The share had increased to 31.6% with new energy installed capacity of 32.83 GW, compared with an 11.21% share by end-2015.
By the end of 13th "Five-Year Plan" period (2016-2020), power installed capacity in the province reached 103.8 GW, jumping by 49% from end-2015.
With rapid growth of new energy capacity, State Grid Shanxi Electric Power Co., Ltd accelerated outbound electricity transmission and the establishment of electricity spot market, to promote digestion of new energy.
In 2020, Shanxi's electricity output from new energy amounted to 42.43 TWh, accounting for 18.12% of the total consumption, with digestion ratio of new energy at 97.03%.
