South Korea's December anthracite imports surged in December and hit a 22-month high since March 2019, official data showed.
The country's anthracite imports in December jumped 69.86% from November and 32.22% on the year to 750,600 tonnes, according to South Korean customs authority.

Russia was South Korea's largest supplier of anthracite, contributing 418,400 tonnes in December, skyrocketing 107.64% year on year and 71.69% month on month.
The country imported 316,400 tonnes of anthracite from Australia in the month, down 5.61% year on year and surging 64.62% month on month.
The import value also fell 3.14% year on year to $65.44 million in December, surging 61.69% month on month. That translates to an average import price of $87.18/t, falling 26.74% year on year and 4.81% month on month.
South Korea's anthracite imports totaled 6.26 million tonnes in the year 2020, decreasing 8.79% compared with 2019. The cumulative import value slumped 34.55% to $606 million from $926 million a year earlier.
