Ridley Terminals in Prince Rupert exported 967,800 tonnes of coal in October, up 11% year on year and 6% from September, showed data from the Prince Rupert Port Authority on November 30.
Met coal exports climbed 8.7% year on year but fell 18.1% month on month to 553,900 tonnes in October, and thermal exports totaled 413,900 tonnes, up 14.3% on the year and surging 75.1% from September.
The terminals shipped 9.3 million tonnes of coal, a year-on-year rise of 23%. Met coal exports ticked up by 1.8% from a year ago to 5 million tonnes, while thermal coal exports jumped 61.4% on the year to 4.3 million tonnes.
Ridley Terminals, operated by Canadian National, is the closest coal export port in Northern America to Asian area.
