The Ordos Natural Resources Bureau has issued mining licenses to Mudu Chaideng coal mine and Nalin River #2 coal mine after approval of the Natural Resources Department of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, said the bureau.
This means the two mines have legal mining qualifications now, it added.
Nalin River #2 coal mine, with a design production capacity of 8 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), is affiliated to Wushen Banner Mengda Mining Co., Ltd., with a mine field area of 176 m2 and coal reserves of 1.51 billion tonnes, of which designed mineable reserves are 800 million tonnes. The mine has the service life of 71 years and involves the total investment of 7.2 billion yuan ($1.1 billion).
Mudu Chaideng coal mine, with a designed production capacity of 6 Mtpa, is owed by Ordos Yihua Mining Resources Co., Ltd., with a mine field area of 55m2 and coal reserves of 1.14 billion tonnes, of which designed mineable reserve are 700 million tonnes. The mine has a service life of 74 years and the total investment of 6.8 billion yuan.
The bureau said the legalization of the two coal mines can not only speed up release of high-quality capacity in safe and legal manners, but also help the energy industry to scale up production. This is important for Ordos city to take a new high-quality development path featuring ecological and green development.
The bureau will continue to promote the issuance of mining rights and facilitate the release of high-quality capacity, it stated.
