Commercial coal output of China Shenhua Energy Co., Ltd., a listed arm of China Energy Investment Corp., grew 11.9% from a year ago to 23.5 million tonnes in September, the company said in a report late October 18.
The output was 1.67% lower compared with the preceding month, it said.
The September figure brought total production to 216.7 million tonnes over January-September, with a year-on-year growth of 1.2%.
Coal sales climbed 8.6% from a year ago and 5.79% from the August-level to 40.2 million tonnes in September.
The accumulative coal sales were down 2.5% year on year to 323.5 million tonnes over the first nine months.
In September, Shenhua had 17.6 million tonnes coal handled at Huanghua port (5.4% YoY, -11.11% MoM), and 4.1 million tonnes shipped from Shenhua Tianjin coal dock (7.9% YoY, 5.13% MoM).
During the first nine months, coal handling at Huanghua port and Tianjin port stood at 150.7 million tonnes (0.3% YoY) and 33.5 million tonnes (-0.6% YoY), respectively.
The firm's power generation increased 5.3% year on year to 11.28 TWh in September, sending total power generation to 101.56 TWh during the first nine months.
Power sales were also up 4.8% from the year-ago level to 10.54 TWh last month, and totaled 95.03 TWh over January-September.
