ArcelorMittal Cleveland Inc. would lay off hundreds of employees, due to the severe COVID-19 pandemic, it wrote in a letter sent to the Ohio state.
The Coronavirus spread, said the company, led to a halt in operations of many downstream firms. Despite re-openings, their performance and operation would still be lacklustre, and wouldn't have any turnaround within a short term. This dealt a direct blow to the company's business.
The Cleveland plant wrote that within 14 days starting August 1, a toal 425 workers would be sacked off, owing to the deteriorating market.
As of nine o'clock, August 1, in the U.S, there are 4,813,640 Coronavirus cases, 2,380,212 cured and 158,365 deaths.
