A total of 15 listed coal enterprises have taken positions on Fortune's Top 500 Chinese Enterprises list this year, according to the business magazine on its Chinese website.
Shenhua Energy continued to top the list, followed by Yanzhou Coal Mining and China Coal Energy.
Shenhua Energy is a state-owned coal company, which handles mining, production and transport of coal as well as power generation. Besides coal mines and power plants, the company also runs railways and ports to transport coal.
In the first six months, the company's commercial coal output totaled 145.6 million tonnes, up 0.1% from a year earlier; coal sales fell 5.4% to 205.3 million tonnes.
Huolinhe Opencut Coal Industry, ranking 467th, is first seen on the list. Huolinhe is principally engaged in the mining, processing and distribution of coal products, and thermal power generation business. Its coal products are mainly distributed to coal-burning enterprises in Inner Mongolia, Jilin province and Liaoning province, which are applied in thermal power, coal chemical industry and local heating.
Huolinhe is one of China's largest opencut coal mines, with a reserve of 13.28 billion tonnes and an annual production capacity of 10 million tonnes.
According to China Coal Industry Association, China has 52 large mines with annual production capacity of 10 million tonnes and above. Their combined capacity reaches 821 million tonnes per annum, accounting for one fifth of China's total.
