China's top steel-making city Tangshan has set production restrictions to steel mills, cement plants and other industrial companies over June 27-30 to tackle air pollution.
This move comes after a weather forecast, saying the dominant east wind in Tangshan city during the period would has speeds below 2 meters/s, with inversion temperature of above 2 ℃, and high humidity accompanied, which is not conducive to pollutants dispersion.
Fengrun, the most affected district in the city, issued a notice on pollution control over 12:00 on June 27 to 24:00 on June 30.
Tianzhu Steel and Xinbaotai Steel under Jianlong Group were asked to temporarily stop sintering production, and minimize gas emission from blast furnace.
Production of independent steel rolling and casting, lime kiln, grinding station, blending station, cement products was stopped, and brick kiln stopped brick feeding.
Under full shutdown, the daily output of section steel in the district will reduce by 61,200 tonnes.
