Northern China's coal-rich Shanxi province targeted to raise railway delivery share for coal and coke to over 80% in 2020, as part of the province's effort to win the Blue Sky War, according to Shanxi Department of Ecological Environment.
Construction of dedicated railway lines is encouraged. All large industrial and mining enterprises with an annual freight volume of more than 1.5 million tonnes of bulk cargo in the province are required in principle to build their own dedicated railway lines, and all key coal mining enterprises will be connected to dedicated coal lines in 2020, according to an implementation plan issued by the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shanxi Province.
The proportion of railway transport of major industrial and mining enterprises with dedicated railway lines is expected to reach over 80%, and that in large enterprises owned dedicated railway lines and located in urban built-up areas and urban and rural fringe areas would exceed 90%.
Promoting transit from road to railway is not only crucial for pollution control and transportation structure optimization, but also an effective way to deepen supply-side structural reform, reduce costs and increase efficiency in logistics industry.
Shanxi aims to increase railway freight volume by 200 million tonnes in 2020 compared with the 2017 level.
