China State Railway Group delivered a total 299 million tonnes of cargoes in May, increasing by 11.15 million tonnes or 3.9% from the year prior, Xinhua News Agency reported.
The company's daily cargo shipment was 9.63 million tonnes last month, rising 0.75 million tonnes or 8.5% from a month ago.
During the month, there were averagely 159,000 rail wagons loaded with cargoes each day, up by 8.8% from a month ago, with the highest single-day cargo loading at 166,000 wagons on May 29 since this year.
In January-May, its total cargo delivery increased 2.7% year on year to 1.39 billion tonnes, with revenue down 5.8% from the preceding year to 153.9 billion yuan.
China Railway finished 34.79 million tonnes of ore shipment out of main coastal ports in May, an increase of 22.4% compared with a year ago, marking a notable progress in "road-to-railway" conversion.
