China's Sinopec has added proven natural gas reserves of around 92.1 billion cubic meters (bcm), equivalent to 2 bcm production capacity per annum, in the southwestern province of Sichuan, the company said in a statement on August 14.
New reserves have been found in the Yuanba gas field, the Zhongjiang gas field and the Dayi gas field in the province, the statement said.
Sinopec said it would continue to boost natural gas exploration and development in Sichuan.
By end-July, Sinopec had found 1.2 trillion cubic meters of natural gas reserves in Sichuan, or annual output capacity of 12 bcm, data showed.
China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC), another major state-owned oil producer, has also vowed to boost natural gas development in Sichuan, aiming to double its output by 2025, sources said.
