Shanxi province, China's top coal producing hub, pledges to cap the number of coal washing firms at 1,200 by the end of 2020, said market sources citing a notice released by the provincial government lately.
The coal washing capacity is expected to be maintained at 1.8 billion tonnes annually through the move, accounting for 25% of the country's total advanced capacity, with each firm capable to produce 1.5 million tonnes of coal per year.
Coal washing plants in the province are also expected to lift washing ratio to 76% in 2019 and further to 80% by 2020, according to the notice.
