Indonesia targets 2018 coal production at 481 million tonnes, said Bambang Gatot, director general of Indonesia Coal and minerals.
Indonesia sees 2019 coal output at 481 million tonnes, the same as 2018, added Gatot on May 7.
Gatot expressed that Indonesia Mining Ministry may force companies to carry out exploration if they want to increase output from 2019.
Indonesian coal exploration has increased as "almost all" miners have increased capex in 2018, said Pandu Sjahrir, chairman of coal mining association.
"Small coal miners in Indonesia still face equipment shortages in 2018 and 2019, affecting output expansion." he added.
