The average mine-mouth settlement price edged up 0.41% month on month and 9.88% year on year to 219.75 yuan/t in February, showed data from the Inner Mongolia Development and Reform Commission.
In the month, mine-mouth settlement price for lignite in eastern Inner Mongolia averaged 176.02 yuan/t, sliding 0.63% from a month ago but up 19.13% from a year ago; that for thermal coal in Ordos averaged 298.89 yuan/t, up 2.48% month on month and 13.03% year on year.
During February, average purchase price for power coal ascended 2.38% and 9.39% from the month-ago and year-ago level to 211.11 yuan/t, the data showed.
Purchase price for power coal in eastern Inner Mongolia rose 3.14% on the month and 15% on the year to an average of 167.36 yuan/t; that in eastern region climbed 1.97% from a month ago and 6.56% from the year prior to 246.1 yuan/t on average.
Coal prices are expected to slightly pull back in March, as supply may increase at mines due to production resumption while winter heating demand comes to an end.
