Northern China's Shanxi slashed 711 MW of installed coal-fired power capacity last year, achieving 142% of the annual target, said power branch of the provincial Economic and Information Commission.
Two power generating units (#7 and #8) of Datang Taiyuan Second Thermal Power Plant, each with installed capacity of 200 MW, were dismantled, taking the largest part of capacity cuts in the province.
In 2016, a total of 300 MW installed coal-fired power capacity was shut in Shanxi, finishing the goal set for the year, said the commission.
