China Energy asks its producing coal mines to call off holidays Company,  Safety 2018-02-10 08:50:00
China Energy Investment Corp, the country's top coal producer, ordered its producing coal mines to keep on producing during the Spring Festival, in an effort to boost supply of the fossil fuel to power plants.

The statement, made by Deputy General Manager Mi Shuhua at a video conference on February 5, followed critical coal stocks at quite a number of power plants in Gansu, Hunan, Anhui and Guizhou.

China Energy has put great stress in supplying coal as part of its effort to cope with current supply tightness, Mi said, noting the giant will also work to increase coal production capacity.

Tight supply and runaway prices have prompted four of the nation's top utilities to turn to NDRC for assistance as for carriage and pricing mechanism for power coal.

To increase coal supply, leading state-owned coal miners have been asked by the government to shorten or even cancel holidays for the upcoming Spring Festival.
