China wind power curtailment rate down to 12% in 2017

China saw wind power curtailment rate slide to 12% in 2017, a drop of 5.2 percentage points from a year ago, said the National Energy Administration in a press conference on January 24.


A total of 41.9 TWh of wind power was curtailed across the country last year, said the NEA.


China registered 96% hydropower utilization rate in 2017, with 51.5 TWh hydropower wasted, showed the date from the administration.


The nation's wind power output amounted to 269.5 TWh last year, a year-on-year surge of 21.4%, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
