China Oct coking coal imports up 2.2% YoY
China imported 5.27 million tonnes of coking coal in October, edging up 2.2% year on year but down 12.6% from September, showed data from General Administration of Customs.
The decrease of coking coal imports was mainly attributed to production restriction during heating season and China National Day Holiday.
China coal industry Jan-Oct profit surges 7.29 times on yr
China's above-sized enterprises in mining and washing industry witnessed their profits soar 628.8% from a year ago to 250.63 billion yuan over January-October, showed the latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on November 27.
During the same period, the main business revenue of above-sized coal enterprises (annual revenue from main business above 20 million yuan) totaled 100.1 trillion yuan, up 12.4% from the year prior.
China's 90 large coal producers Jan-Oct output up 8.2% YoY
China's 90 large coal producers produced a total of 2.03 billion tonnes of raw coal over January-October, up 8.2% year on year, showed data from the China National Coal Association (CNCA).
The top ten coal enterprises produced a total 1.22 billion tonnes of raw coal over the same period, accounting for 60.1% of the total output produced by the 90 coal producers, the CNCA data showed.
Shandong Oct raw coal output at 11.19 Mt
Eastern China's Shandong province produced 11.19 million tonnes of raw coal in October, with total raw coal output at 105.69 million tonnes over January-October, showed data from Shandong Administration of Coal Industry.
Provincial-owned mines produced 81.88 million tonnes of raw coal during the same period, dipping 0.4% from the preceding year, while raw coal output at municipal-owned mines at 23.8 million tonnes, down 4.1% on the year.
Guangdong Oct coal imports up 3.56% YoY
Southern China's Guangdong province imported 4.87 million tonnes of coal in October, increasing 3.56% year on year but down 27.85% from September, showed data from the General Administration of Customs.
Total value of October's coal imports reached $363.7 million. That translated into an average price of $74.75/t, rising $14.19/t from September but down $0.9/t from the preceding year.
Datong Coal fulfills 91% term contracts in first 10 mths
Shanxi-based Datong Coal Mine Group, one leading Chinese coal producer, supplied 17.47 million tonnes of term contract coal to major power generators over January-October this year, or 91% contract fulfillment, local media reported.
Datong Coal is expected to supply 23.1 million tonnes term contract coal for the whole year of 2017, based on its annual term contracts signed with the nation's top five power groups, China Resources Power, and State Development and Investment Corporation, reported Datong Daily.
Shenhua Group officially renamed China Energy Investment Corp.
China's No.1 coal miner officially renamed China Energy Investment Corporation Limited and completed related registration of changes in the business license, said its listed subsidiary China Shenhua Energy Company in an announcement on November 27.
The new company, merged by Shenhua Group and the country's leading power enterprise China Guodian Corporation, is registered with capital up to 102.1 billion yuan ($15.48 billion), said the announcement.
Beijing knocks out over 4,450 coal-fired boilers
China's capital city Beijing has phased out 4,453 coal-fired boilers with capacity at 13,259 t/h by far this year, the final year of a five-year action plan, Xinhua News Agency reported on November 26, citing Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau.
The eliminated capacity, 3.3 times of this year's target, equates to a reduction of 3 million tonnes of standard coal each year, helping cut smoke and sulfur dioxide by 5,500 tonnes and 6,600 tonnes annually, the report said.
Guizhou to shut 1.14 GW coal-fired power units by 2020
Southwestern China's Guizhou, one of the major coal-producing provinces in the country, plans to shut power units with combined generating capacity at 1.14 GW by 2020, officials said in a news conference on November 24.
The province will upgrade operating coal-fired power units for energy conservation during the same period, with total capacity at 17.16 GW. Coal consumption of newly-added coal-fired power units should be below 300 g/KWh of standard coal.
Gansu makes better use of clean energy for heating to cut coal burns
Northwestern China's Gansu province has been actively making use of clean energy sources to replace coal for winter heating in an effort to combat air pollution, state media reported.
By end-October this year, 823 households in Gansu used electric boilers or heat pumps for heating purpose in an area of nearly 9.6 million square meters, China News reported on November 28.
China Nov official factory PMI rises to 51.8
Growth in China's manufacturing sector unexpectedly picked up in November, despite a crackdown on air pollution and a cooling property market that have been widely expected to weigh on the world's second-largest economy.
The official Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) released on November 30 stood at 51.8 in November, compared with 51.6 in October and comfortably above the 50-point mark that separates growth from contraction on a monthly basis.
China Bohai-rim ports may see coal handling surge in 2017, industry insider
China's Bohai-rim ports are expected to see a surge in coal handlings this year, as rebounded thermal coal market has greatly boosted market participants' sentiment of shipping coal from these transfer ports.
Coal handlings are likely to hit 676 million tonnes at Bohai-rim ports in 2017, a climb of 80 million tonnes or 13.4% from a year earlier, according to an industry insider.
