Active power generation capacity at wind farms in northern China's Shanxi province hit a new high of 6.63 GW at 1:46 a.m. (GMT+8) November 10, Shanxi Daily reported on November 11, citing State Grid Shanxi Electric Power Company .
That accounted for 33.4% of the province's total on-grid power generation capacity, said the company.
While the province was in the process of residential heating this month, wind power generation also see more output during the nighttime. This has highlighted the pressure of getting wind power into the gird, as thermal power is also in full steam to meet high demand.
But from perspective of the rapid growth of total wind capacity installed in the province these years, this could be easily addressed in the near future. So far, the company's wind capacity has totaled 8.53 GW, up 16.8% from a year ago.
